I started taking a number of supplements on August 14, 2025. Those supplements include:
- Whey protein - 30g
- Creatine Monohydrate - 5g
- L-Arginine - 1000mg
- Zinc - 50mg
- Lecithin - 1200mg
- Pygeum - 4000mg
I take everything but protein daily. I will occasionally skip a protein shake on the weekend depending on what I eat throughout the day. During the week, I drink one every morning shortly after arriving at work.
Outside of the injuries I am dealing with, my body feels good. The arthritis and bone spurs in my toe are not going away without surgery (which I am avoiding as long as possible), so I am going to continue ignoring it. However, my right shoulder has been bothering me since mid-summer. I am going to rest it until fall volleyball league starts and see how it feels at that point.
The main issue with the shoulder right now is that it is preventing me from doing a number of upper body lifts such as bench press or shoulder press. I tried to bench press last night and could not do it without pain in my shoulder. So I will hold off on bench press until it heals up a bit more, but I will continue to do regular squats and deadlifts throughout the week. I am also going to try to do some lifting exercises with very light weights to target the muscles in my shoulder. I plan on bowling Friday and playing golf this weekend.
For lunches, it has been some kind of protein like ham or turkey, grape tomatoes, rice, and fruit like pineapple or apples. I was told should eat more greens, but there are not many that appeal to me. I will eat tuna and/or yogurt as an afternoon snack. I am less picky about dinner and will usually just eat whatever my wife makes and try not to eat more than I should. And instead of eating more of the main meal, I will eat more fruit or vegetables on the side.
My goal is to be both leaner and stronger by the time next summer comes around. Probably not an easy task going into year 41.
